S.D. Board of Regents asks for more money to offset inflation

Posted:

The South Dakota Board of Regents wants the state to pitch in more money so students don't have to.

The group seeks an additional $2.8 million in its base budget to combat inflation.

That's part of the $14.5 million the regents are requesting in new funding.

Last week, the Regents also approved a new associate degree in applied health sciences at Black Hills State University.

The program will prepare students for nursing programs at other state schools.

The Board predicts 25 new students in that degree program this fall, plus another 35 next year.
