
The number of fatalities at this year's rally stands at double last year's number, but the number of injury accidents is down considerably.
Eight people have died so far in seven accidents.
The most recent was 38-year-old Robert Collins from Fort Myers, Fla. He lost control of his bike near exit 40 on the I-90 service road, and the motorcycle went over.
He died of his injuries at Sturgis Regional Hospital.
His passenger, Stephanie Overocker, 28, of Addison, N.Y., was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
There have been 45 injury accidents, compared with 76 last year.
Up a dozen or so from last year, 226 people have been arrested for D.U.I.; 36 for various felonies, mMost of those being drug-related.
Troopers have also issued 1061 citations. More than 3,700 others have received warnings.
