The Sturgis Rally is more than just displaying motorcycles, it's also about partying and having fun.

And that fun seems to have spilled onto the roads as DUI arrests are up more than 20 percent compared to last year at this time during the rally.

As of Tuesday morning 112 DUI arrests were made, compared to only 87 this time last year.

Lieutenant Rick Miller with the South Dakota Highway Patrol says there's sure fire way  to explain why the numbers are up.

"We would like our numbers to go down every single year. We haven't changed what we're doing. We're out there consistently enforcing those DUI laws every single year the exact same way," said Miller.

Fatal accident are also up; last year at this time there were no fatal accidents, already this year there have been four.
