If you're approaching the age of 65 you may have a lot of questions about Medicare, but even if you're a Medicare "veteran" you should be on your toes when it comes to Medicare coverage because things change quickly from year to year - your health and Medicare options included.
Medicare spokesperson Mike Fierberg says finding the best plan for you can be complicated, but you don't have to tackle it alone. You can always call 1-800-medicare or local offices available in your state.
Fierberg says that it's important to compare plans to save money. "It's not just the premium that counts it's the deductible and how much you pay every time you get a prescription and when you add all those together you're total cost is what really matters not just the premium," said Fierberg. "A low premium can be false economy if you have to pay a lot of money every time you go to the pharmacy."
Fierberg says you should start looking at your different Medicare options by October 1st this year.
