Downtown Sturgis; it's the place to be this week, and there are lots of things to occupy your time. People have a drink; check out bikes, and shop.
There are a lot of different fun things to do at rally, but there is one thing that everybody needs to do. "Everybody has to eat," said waitress Connie Price.
Weimer's Diner and Donuts is a locally owned and operated business that sits right on Main Street.
"It's busy you know today's the official day but it's actually been going on probably for well over a week now, but it's the first day there's a lot of traffic," said Price.
Connie Price grew up in Sturgis and for the past 30 years her parents have owned the diner. So rally is always a busy time for her family. "When we unlocked the door this morning, opened the door and no joke within five minutes every single chair in the place was filled and we still had people standing waiting for a table," said Price.
Gordon Sinner says he has watched Price and her sister grow up at the dinner. It's his favorite place to eat. "I tell other people about it but now it's getting so crowded I tell them to go down the street," said Sinner.
He has been coming here for over 30 years now, and always gets the same thing. "Bacon eggs wheat toast and milk just like always have I don't' have to order they put it in," said Sinner.
Breakfast lunch and dinner are chaotic. Price says Sunday they went through 33 dozen eggs and they almost always run out of bacon. But she says she still loves rally time. "It's an amazing experience whether you're a biker or whether you're a local or whether you're just someone wanting to come see what Sturgis bike week is all about because you hear about the rally all the time, it's an amazing experience," said Price.
So for some the start of rally means the rumble of bikes, music and drinks, but to others it means lots of hungry bikers that need a good meal.
