For the second weekend in a row, a charity group gets an extra boost from prize winners.
This time it's the third-annual Golf Ball Drop to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Organizers dropped 1,800 golf balls, all of them numbered, on Main Street Square Saturday evening.
And at $5 a ball, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Black Hills brought in around $10,00.
The group gave out close to $4,000 in prizes, but those came from outside sponsors.
And to sweeten the pot for the charity group, the winners of the hole-in-one, Mary and Rob Stanton, gave their $1,000-prize right back to the organizers.
"Goes for a great cause," Rob said. "Could we use $1,000? Absolutely. Who couldn't use $1,000? But look at the charities and the people involved. [They] definitely need it. I'm sure it'll go to a good cause."
Big Brother Big Sisters director Mary Victor confirmed that.
"It costs us $1,000 to support a match," she said. "Last year we had over 300 matches, and this year we're on target to be quite a bit above that."
So that prize money means a heck of a lot to them.
