A brand new camp location will welcome YMCA day campers beginning next year.
Known as Giraffic Park, the brand new camp will allow campers interaction with the Black Hills in a brand new way.
Structures on the camp will allow more interaction with nature as well as give campers the option to stay at the location when bad weather arises.
The site of the location between Highway 44 and Highway 385 was acquired through a land trade for the YMCA's existing property in Hermosa.
And as Roger Gallimore, the YMCA's Executive Director says the new move is all about fun.
"By making this move, not only do we get more acreage, but
now we're right in the middle of the Black Hills. And we'll
have some structures, some places to have additional
activities, rainy day activities. It's really just fun," said Gallmore.
The YMCA has held a day camp at various area locations for over 40 years.
