Designer of official Sturgis Rally logo honored

As the Sturgis Rally roared to life Friday, a tribute to the man who created the official logo.

From the balcony of Tom's T's, Tom Monahan was honored. People lined the street to honor and remember the rally icon. For 27 years Monahan's design has been the symbol of Sturgis Rally.

Monahan's family says it's their first rally without him, and they are keeping his memory alive by letting everyone know how much the community of Sturgis meant to him.

"He would be very humble about that tribute but he would be very proud too," said San Monahan.

For the last 20 years, a percentage of Monahan's T–shirt sales have been donated back to the city of Sturgis.
