Annual Oglala Lakota Nation Powwow starts Friday

Posted:

It's a weekend full of events on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

The 27th annual Oglala Lakota Nation Powwow and Rodeo in Pine Ridge continues Friday. It runs through Sunday. The event features dancers of all ages performing in a variety of competitions.

Also starting Friday is the annual Wounded Knee Memorial Motorcycle Run. The motorcycle run seeks to commemorate the Native Americans who were killed at the Wounded Knee Massacre in 1890. Motorcyclists from across the country take part in the event, which follows the trail of Chief Big Foot. It starts in Fort Yates, N.D., continues to Eagle Butte, S.D., and finishes at Wounded Knee.
