Officer Doyle issues statement

Posted:

Officer Tim Doyle has respectfully declined all interviews.  Doyle was the only survivor of an Aug. 2, 2011 shooting in Rapid City that killed officers Nick Armstrong and Ryan McCandless.

Doyle spent a week in the hospital.  He was shot in the left temple, a wound that shattered his jaw.  A bullet still rests in his ribcage.

Doyle did release this written statement:

Thank you for your interest and concern for my situation. My family and I continue on with the healing process, as we all do in our own way and our own pace.

August 2, 2011 changed us all forever, and not a day goes by that I don't think of my Heroes Nick and Ryan, and the ultimate sacrifice they made for all of us that day.

I am also thankful for the continued support and encouragement the Rapid City Police Department has received from the public. It makes the healing process that much easier. For me personally, the comments and handshakes when I am out in public mean so much that I cannot adequately express them. I can tell from the look in people's eyes that they are still healing as well. This will be a difficult anniversary for all of us, and we will all need that support.

Thank you again,

Tim Doyle and family.
