Hill City - State Capitol for a Day

Posted:

Hill City, the oldest city in Pennington County, became the capitol of South Dakota - for the day.

Governor Dennis Daugaard and other state officials mixed and mingled with locals, took a tour of the town, and attended a Mountain Pine Beetle meeting.

Daugaard says tourism was a hot topic for locals, and he and his wife have experienced Hill City tourism first hand.

"Linda and I have slept here we've eaten here we've hiked here we've biked here, we've toured around Hill City's events, I bet we've been on the 1880 train a dozen times. We love Hill City and we're glad to be here," said Daugaard.
