Reward offered in Rapid City unsolved murder case

Posted:

The Community Reward Fund is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the March murder of Robert Ghostbear.

Ghostbear, age 45, was found dead on the morning of March 21, near the railroad tracks on East North Street. An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head. The Rapid City Police Department and Pennington County Sheriff's Office opened a joint homicide investigation, but have not made any arrests in the case.

"We need the public's help to solve this case," said RCPD Captain Doug Thrash. "Someone out there knows what happened, and we need them to do the right thing and come forward."

In addition, the Community Reward Fund is still offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the murder of Carl Bordeaux. Bordeaux, age 40, was discovered dead in his apartment on January 30, 2009.

Police are asking anyone with information on either death to contact police at 394-4134 or 394-6115. The public may also submit anonymous tips by texting ‘RCPD' and the info to 847411, or online at www.rapidcitypolice.org.

The Community Reward Fund was established in 1992, to seek information in the stabbing death of Donnivan Shaeffer. The fund continues to operate with donations provided by community businesses and organizations.
