He says he did it to frighten and intimidate the community and his classmates. A School of Mines student pleads guilty to making terroristic threats.

As part of a plea deal with the state, 19 year old Boyce Way admitted in court Monday that he left a threatening letter in the Surbeck center last April warning of a school shooting and the burning of a dean's house.

In exchange for his admission, the state will recommend local jail time and probation. Way previously faced a maximum of five years in prison.

Way is undergoing psychiatric treatment and will be required to attend criminal thinking classes.

He will be sentenced on September 17th.
