Days of '76 museum protects history

Posted:

The new days of '76 museum has been open for about a month now, and so far this summer has been good for business and history. An old pole barn use to house the history of the west, but now it's snuggled into a safe and solid new structure.

On average workers guess anywhere from 80 to 125 people a day visit the museum.

While Karen Bucholz can't say if that's more or less than at the old location, she does say that the history is much safer now and still thriving. "It's so important to keep the history alive no matter where you're from or what you do," said Bucholz. "I always joke around with people that I love history and I'm living in the past."

With the days of '76 going on this weekend museum employees say they are prepared for lots of visitors, and they expect Friday and Saturday to be the busiest.
