So far, so good. That's how a Rapid City gun shop owner describes sales this year.
First Stop Gun & Coin co–owner Mark Blote says sales are on track for this time of year. He says fewer people typically buy guns during the summer months, but that trend may be changing due to an increased interest in recreational shooting.
Gun sales in Colorado and other states surged following Friday's theater shooting, increasing anywhere from 25%- 43%. But Blote says he's not seeing that trend in South Dakota.
"Everybody here is pretty gun–oriented anyway and I haven't noticed anything here since the tragedy last week," said Blote.
Bloate says he's noticing more couples and people in their 20's and 30's shopping for guns.
