Falls Fire starts southwest of Hot Springs

UPDATE 7-26 8:45PM:

Falls Fire has burned 275 acres, and is now considered 40 percent contained. Good progress was made today due to very favorable weather conditions.

A new fire broke out this afternoon in the rugged Black Hills area approximately six miles southwest of Hot Springs (see map.)

Officials say the Falls Fire was likely started by lightening, but that is unconfirmed.

The fire is 250 acres, and there are 150 personnel on scene from local, state, and federal resources.

Crews are conducting burnout operations. There is no containment.
