Myrtle Fire:
Full containment of the Myrtle Fire is expected to occur by the end of the day. Today crews will focus on mop-up and patrolling the fire line, as well as rehabilitating the landscape from the firefighting effort.

Longhorn Complex:
Location: 4 miles northwest of St. Francis, SD
Size: 38,976 acres
Percent Contained: 25%


Mossagate Nearing Containment:
Federal, state, and local VFD firefighters have nearly contained the Mossagate Fire and have released resources to other fires.  "It was a quiet night at the Mossagate Fire", according to Incident Commander Brian Daunt, "we have completed mop-up and continue to patrol the perimeter."  Daunt anticipates full containment later today.

Location: Ten miles northwest of Edgemont, SD
Size: 4,314 acres

Cause: Lightning

Containment: 70%



During the night federal, state, and local volunteer fire departments responded to 3 additional fire starts.

West Crow Dam Fire:
Location:  Nine miles south of Edgemont, SD
Size: 0.25 acre
Cause: Lightning
Containment:  100%

Placerville Fire:
Location: One mile north of Pactola Reservoir in the Mystic Ranger District
Size: 0.1 acre
Cause: Lightning
Containment:  Unknown


Powell Creek Fire:
Location: Seven miles west of Pierre, SD
Size: 7 acres
Cause: Unknown – under investigation
Containment: 100%


The Rattle Snake Fire is 100 percent contained.
