Attorney General probe: no evidence of illegal activity in Secretary of State's office

Posted:

After claims of illegal activity in the Secretary of State's office, Attorney General Marty Jackley says he's found no evidence to back up those allegations.

Earlier this year Senator Stan Adelstein made claims of impropriety, conflict of interest, and possible illegal activity in the state office, specifically aimed at former Director of Operations, Pat Powers who recently resigned.

Jackley says after a lengthy investigation, he's found no evidence to back up any of the claims.

The investigation included a review of more than 60 thousand emails and 2.6 million files.

Jackley says no evidence of state criminal violations were found.

Adlestein was unavailable for comment, but he had previously stated he hoped Secretary of State Jason Gant would ultimately resign after the investigation.
