It's no secret South Dakota is dry but the startling news is how dry.
The nation is experiencing the 10TH largest severe drought since 1895. Nearly 94% of the High Plains are in a drought including all of South Dakota.
The devastation is obvious for farmers and ranchers, who have to sell their cows and purchase hay from neighboring states to keep their livestock fed.
According to The South Dakota Wildland Division more than 200 fires ignited since March. Hundreds of record highs in KOTA Territory were shattered this year.
In fact, March was the warmest on record and June was the 10th driest in the state's history.
