Hookah smoke drives away neighbors

And where there's smoke, there's empty store fronts.

A Hookah lounge in downtown Rapid City is upsetting neighboring businesses who are complaining about the smell of smoke.

Two businesses in the Buell building have moved within the last month because of the lingering smell of smoke coming from Sahara Nights hookah lounge next door.

The hookah lounge opened earlier this year, and recently installed a ventilation system to curb the odor, but Merle Norman manager Susan Grubl says it wasn't effective, and building management failed to intervene.

Merle Norman is currently in the process of relocating to a new location on Haines avenue, which will open in September.

Reset Weight has also moved to an office building on Clear View Lane.
