
One is dead and two others were taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle crash 50 miles northwest of Belle Fourche Saturday evening, according to a press release from the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
Lawrence D. Ozuna, 45, of Belle Fourche, was driving north on Camp Crook Road when he crested a hill and lost control of the vehicle.
The car, a 2003 Chevy Impala, rolled into the west ditch, and Ozuna was killed when he was ejected during the crash.
Back seat passenger Kenneth J. Piekkola, 59, of Belle Fourche, was also ejected from the car and sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries. He was airlifted from the scene to Rapid City Regional Hospital.
The front seat passenger, Tari Warner, 31, also of Belle Fourche, was buckled at the time of the crash and was not ejected from the vehicle. Still, she was taken to Spearfish Regional Hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.
The press release also notes alcohol was involved, and that the investigation is ongoing.
