Black Hills fire update Tuesday evening


Firefighters say they have the Parker Peak fire 100% contained. The burned 800 acres between Monday and Wednesday The Parker Peak Fire is located 12 miles north east of Edgemont.

The White Draw Fire, burning since last Friday near Edgemont, is now approximately 7,800 acres and 60% contained.

The Highlands Fire, located about 14 miles southeast of Newcastle, WY and south of US Highway 16 has burned 394 acres and is 95 percent contained Tuesday night.

No new fire information was released Tuesday evening about the Oil Creek fire near Newcastle. It had burned 20,000 acres by Tuesday morning and prompted additional evacuations.

No new information was released Tuesday evening on the Ash Creek Complex in Montana. It was estimated at 186,000+ acres Tuesday morning with 55% containment.

Two new fires were reported in Crook County Tuesday morning. The Ghost and Perela Fires are located approximately 13 miles west of Sundance, WY.

The Ghost Fire is 600 acres and the Perela Fire is currently 10 acres. One engine has responded to the Perela Fire. One helicopter and several fire personnel are on scene at the Ghost Fire.

The Soldier Fire is 100 percent contained at five acres Tuesday night. It was reported Monday at approximately 8 a.m. six miles south of Beulah, WY.
