Crook, Pennington Counties issue strict fireworks bans

The Pennington County Board of Commissioners  passed an emergency resolution Tuesday prohibiting the discharge of all fireworks and all open burning outside of any municipality in Pennington County. 

This coincides with the US Forest Service and South Dakota Wildland Fire Suppression ban on all open burning permits for commercial campgrounds, private campfire rings and burn barrels.

Discharge of fireworks are prohibited in the cities of Rapid City, Wall, New Underwood, Keystone and Hill City.

Also Tuesday, Crook County Commissioners restricted ALL open burning and ALL fireworks. This includes burning of trash, camp fires and charcoal fires;  smoking is prohibited except within enclosed vehicles or buildings, developed recreation sites, or in an barren area at least 3 feet in diameter and cigars, cigarettes and pipe tobacco shall not be thrown out of vehicles.
