Amanda Scott defeats Theresa Spry in Ward 4 Runoff

Voters went to the polls Tuesday to decide who gets the last open seat on the Rapid City Common Council.

Amanda Scott won with 60 percent of the vote. She defeated Theresa spry who received 40 percent of the vote. Turnout was only 8 percent.

Amanda Scott gets Jordan Mason's seat in Ward 4. Mason spent two years in office but decided not to run again.

Scott is the block division manager for Pete Lien & Sons in Rapid City and the president of Cheyenne River Spec Mix. She says her business sense and machinery experience give her the upper hand for the job.

Scott's focus during the campaign was to push for more streamlined and efficient city government.
