A second mountain lion was shot by police in Rapid City in eight days

Posted:

A Rapid City family found an unwanted guest in their shed Saturday morning.

Sergeant Warren Poches with the Rapid City Police Department says they received a call around 9:45 A.M. to a home on Reservoir Road.

When they arrived they found a mountain lion hiding in a large shed.

He says the family's dog was barking and came out of the shed with a scratch across his face.

When the family went to investigate, they found a thin mountain lion in the shed and called police.

Poches says a Game Fish & Parks officer made the decision to put down the 1 year old, female cat and a police officer shot it with a rifle.
