Black Hills second annual Huckfest

Posted:

Big props and loud engines, that's what contestants say draws them to the second annual Black Hills Huckfest.

The Rapid City Huckfest is one of 12 in the nation, and the aircraft event brings people from all over. Last year 50 R/C pilots attended, some from as far as Washington State.

The competition started Thursday and continues through the weekend, but Josh Franke says that Saturday's "Thousand Dollar Throw Down" will be the biggest event. Not only do pilots get to show off their moves and fancy finger work, but they get to challenge themselves and their airplanes.

Franke says that's what Huckfest is all about. "It's different strokes for different folks. It's a different kind of adrenaline, it really is. It does take a lot of skill," said Franke.

Huckfest is free to spectators. For more information you can visit www.blackhillshuckfest.com.
