The Miss South Dakota Pageant is underway at the Mueller Civic Center in Hot Springs and young women from across the state strut their stuff. Calista Kirby and Heather Johnson took home preliminary awards Wednesday.
Kirby, Miss Rushmore, won the talent competition with a tumbling routine and Johnson, Miss Sioux Empire Fair, won the swimsuit competition in a maroon two-piece.
Thursday night the preliminary competitions continue, and Saturday at 10:00am is the Miss South Dakota Pageant Parade. The final competition is Saturday at 7:00pm.
Friday will be the Miss South Dakota Outstanding Teen Competition for girls from 13 to 17 years old.
