Around 4:30p.m. Monday, a RCFD fire truck was traveling south on Tish Drive, with lights and sirens on, to a call.

The fire truck, a 2010 Pierce Arrow Pumper driven by Jason Zeigler, 29, of Rapid City, collided with a 2008 Ford Fusion traveling west on E Mall Drive.

The driver, Gregory Smith, 34, of Watertown, said he was not aware of the emergency vehicle.

Both Smith and his passenger, Charles Atkins, age 60 of Como, MS, were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No one has been cited in the accident. Damage to the Fusion was about $15,000. Damage to the fire truck is estimated at $10,000.

The incident remains under investigation.

The Rapid City Fire Department says, "we are thankful that all parties involved where not severely injured. We remind everyone to check intersections carefully and keep a lookout for emergency vehicles."
