Rapid City man accused of manslaughter on 24/7 program

Posted:

A Rapid City man accused of killing a pedestrian while driving drunk will have to participate in a 24/7 program until he heads to trial.

Fifty-eight-year-old Kenneth Williams is charged with second degree manslaughter after a December 2011 crash that killed Terry Brown. Brown and a friend were walking in North Rapid when he was hit and killed.

Williams was released on $25,000 bond.  But Monday in Seventh Circuit Court, he was ordered to undergo daily breathalyzer tests.

Deputy States Attorney Sarah Morrison said in court that Williams has been seen drinking at a Rapid City casino since the death of Brown.

Morrison's attorney, Tim Rensch, argued there is evidence in the case file that could prove his client didn't cause Brown's death.

This is Williams' third DUI in his lifetime, and second within the last 10-years.

Another hearing is set for next Thursday. At that time, a trial date will be determined.
