Changes to Rapid City's sign code are up for final approval Monday night. The second and final reading is scheduled for three ordinances to replace the existing sign code.
The Council has been hot and cold about the changes that were suggested by a Citizen Task Force.
At the Legal & Finance Committee meeting last week, some of the aldermen expressed concern about making changes to the sign code given pending litigation over the initiated measures passed more than a year ago. Others say they believe the changes are overdue.
The ordinances deal with message length, animation, and size of digital billboards on and off premise.
