Brad Sugden joined the KOTA Territory News team in May 2012 as weekend meteorologist and general assignment reporter.
Brad has had a passion for the weather ever since he was a child. After seeing the devastation left by Hurricane Katrina during a relief mission, he decided to pursue a career in broadcast meteorology.
Brad graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in Meteorology, concentration in Broadcasting. While at CMU (fire up chips!) he was selected to be on NewsCentral 34, Michigan's only one-hour student produced nightly newscast, to be a Weather Anchor. Also, while in Michigan, Brad interned with WNEM-TV5 in Saginaw and was actively part of the Radio and Television Digital News Association and Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society.
During summer break after his sophomore year, Brad adventured to the Black Hills to work in the tourism industry instead of studying abroad. After falling in love with the scenery, weather, and culture he decided to return for three more summers.
Taking a year off after graduating, Brad spent another summer here in the hills before traveling the Western United States. The whole time he kept a watchful eye to the sky gaining experience with different weather in unique areas of the country.
Brad jumped on the opportunity to work in the Black Hills at KOTA, doing what he loves in a place he loves. In his spare time he enjoys hiking, swimming (competitively for 8 years!), traveling, being with his family and friends, and continuing to explore all the area has to offer.
