Fundraiser helps raise hundreds of dollars in Morgan Myers' honor

Posted:

People in Rapid City have taken another step to honor the memory of Rapid City's Morgan Myers who was stabbed to death in the Walmart parking lot.

Stylists from all over town opened up shop Saturday night at the Great Clips on East North Street in Rapid City.  They asked for a minimum donation of $10 and in return they gave a haircut.

They raised almost $500, organizers said.

Many of the stylists and people who helped organize the fundraiser were friends of Myers who wanted to do something special to help her family.

"Morgan was a wonderful person with a very giving hear and she has four children who will need all the help they can get," Organizer Tera Kinsella Roth said.  "I know everyone wants to help out and everyone keeps asking how they can help, what they can do.  I think it is nice for the community to get together."

The donations from Saturday night's fundraiser will go toward helping Myers' children.

Friends and family are also planning a silent auction fundraiser.  That event is scheduled for June 16, 2012 at the Hotel Alex Johnson.
