A dangerous cut off on Rapid City's bike path is the focus of a million dollar construction project.
Thanks to a grant from the department of transportation and vision 20-12 funding, a portion of the bike path on the county fair grounds will be extended.
Currently the path ends abruptly, in what project leaders say is a dangerous curve in the road.
The $2.3 million dollar project will extend the path down the block to the cherry street bridge, where the path will continue.
Planners also hope to install guard rails along the path.
Construction is set to begin in May, and wrap up by the end of July.
