26 ounces of canned milk
Scant 1/2 of a 13 ounce can of water
1 Tablespoon glucose or sugar
1 Tablespoon castor oil or cod liver oil
1 beaten egg yolk
Mix well. Only give 4 ounces of this mix to a newborn calf, 2 ounces for newborn lamb. Repeat every 2 hours for the first day. On the second day, 8 ounces for a calf, 4 ounces for a big lamb. On the third day, eliminate the egg yolk and the sugar. Reduce the oil to 1 teaspoon and crush 1 children's vitamin tablet in one of the feedings. Keep milk refrigerated, keep bottles and nipples very clean, and do not overfeed.

If you have a baby calf that will not suck a bottle or a cow, just use molasses. Put it on the nipple with your fingers, then put a little in the calf's mouth. Works like a charm!
