Beardsley, Jensen and Von Wald
The U.S. Justice Department recently reported to Congress that it collected $4.1 billion dollars in civil and criminal health care enforcement actions in 2011. That's the highest amount ever.
Attorney General Holder said that his Department opened 1,100 new criminal health care fraud investigations last year involving potentially 2,500 defendants. There are 1,800 investigations pending.
That's a lot of health care fraud – makes you wonder how these cases come to light. Who is committing these frauds? How much fraud is never uncovered?
What's all this health care fraud costing you and me?
