After falling below three dollars a gallon on New Year's Day, the price of gasoline is on the rise again.
According to southdakotagasprices.com, the average price of regular unleaded has risen eight cents in the past week to $3.37 per gallon statewide.
This is a dime less than the national average of $3.47 a gallon.
In Rapid City, we're paying much less. Most stations average $3.17 a gallon.
Still, drivers say the price is waging war on the wallet.
"I'm in the hay and cattle business, it takes the motivation away. I 'm not going to go out and try to sell or deliver my stuff because the cost of fuel eats me alive," said Ron Vesely from Rapid Valley.
Even in 2008, when gas prices hit records over four dollars a gallon, the average price didn't climb above $3.50 until April.
