Police Chief eyes hookah lounge liquor license

Posted:

Just weeks after being raided by local law enforcement, one downtown hot spot is feeling even more heat from Rapid City's Police Chief.

After reports of furnishing alcohol to minors and a pending synthetic drug investigation, the owners of Ifrit's  hookah lounge on St. Joseph street are seeking to have their liquor license transferred to an affiliated corporation.
In an official memo to the owners, Chief Allender says he will oppose the transfer at next week's city council meeting because of the recent drug and alcohol allegations.

Police seized large amounts of synthetic marijuana and bath salts from the Hookah lounge last month.

The owners of Ifrits lounge declined to comment.
