This week marks Catholic Schools Week and for some students that means giving thanks to God and the men and women who bravely serve under him.
At an assembly at Saint Thomas More, students in Kindergarten through 12th grade honored active duty military members, as well as local law enforcement officers and fire fighters.
The servicemen and women were presented with handmade gifts as well as a rendition of "God Bless America".
For Maj. Dave Moore, the act of gratitude was very humbling.
"When I was deployed I got gifts from people I didn't even know and again very humbling. It means a lot to know that people care that much to think of you and what you do," said Moore.
In addition to honoring those who serve, students presented a check of more than $1,000 to disaster relief efforts.
