A KOTA Territory college uses robots and computers to spark interest in prospective high school students to enter those fields.
At Central High School today representatives from South Dakota School of Mines Electrical and Computer Engineering departments set up interactive displays so students could get a hands on feel of those degrees.
Current electrical engineering student Rachel Joseph says it's all about getting high schoolers excited about the electrical and engineering fields.
"These projects a lot of them are really interesting and to be like yes, this is student built, so we really wanted to spark an interest in the students and show them what they can do with an electrical or computer engineering degree."
Joseph says that many students showed a lot of interest in the projects that were on display today.
Among the more popular exhibits was a model of an underwater submarine that Mines students will build into a life-size design.
