While President Barack Obama promises to have U.S. troops out of Iraq by the end of the year, it is still business as usual for a Rapid City-based guard unit in country.

The flight crews from Company C of the 189th Aviation Regiment, normally stationed at Regional Airport, are providing medical evacuation support out of Al Asad Air Base in Iraq.

The company has three teams with Black Hawk helicopters spread across the central region of Iraq.  Fortunately, the operation tempo is slow since American combat operations have subsided and troops prepare to pull out of the country.

The company deployed 70 soldiers to Iraq during the summer.  No return date has been released yet.
