By all the numbers this year's Sturgis Rally was a little on the light side, 50,042 fewer bikers that is.
We already reported that sales tax revenue was down from previous years, 9.96 percent of a drop in Sturgis itself.
By using traffic counts, the amount of garbage collected and attendance at various venues the Sturgis Rally Department came up with an estimate of 416,727 people rolling in for the summer biker bash. This is a drop of 10.72 percent when compared to 2009, the 70th anniversary rally.
That was expected since historically, the year after an anniversary rally, numbers are down.
Some statistics are pretty good, such as the death rate. This year only four bikers died; less than half the deaths attributed to last year's rally.
