Three tourists were shot while they were watching an outdoor cowboy gun show in Hill City Friday evening.

Pennington County Sheriff's deputy William Kimball says that right now they are considering the shooting to be accidental.  No children were shot but we know a 48 year old man was shot twice.

It happened on Main & Elm just before 7:00 PM.

Three bystanders were shot while they stood watching the show when the actors shot in the direction of the crowd.  Eyewitnesses say that the shots appeared to come from one gun.

The gun was supposed to be filled with blanks.  The re–enactors say they load their own guns and watch each other do it.

"It was the end of the show and the two behind me had started yelling that they were shot and then blood started spraying out everywhere. We are all trying to figure out how it happened, but we don't know," explained Phyllis Masten, the videographer for the show.

The three shooting victims were taken to the Rapid City hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities don't know whether it was bullets or shrapnel from a blank that caused the injuries.
