GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) - The Nebraska State Fair has decided to charge a $6 "convenience fee" to get assigned seats at the fair's concerts this summer. Fair events and entertainment director Chelsey Jungck (yuhnk) says several people mentioned they'd be willing to pay a small fee for a reserved seat in the arena. This year's fair begins August 22nd.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A child welfare expert accused of exposing himself to some girls at a Lincoln hotel has made a deal with prosecutors. Sixty-eight-year-old Steven Preister of Washington, D.C., pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace and was fined $500. Prosecutors dropped a charge of public nudity in exchange for Preister's plea last month.

PIERCE, Neb. (AP) - Authorities in Pierce County say one person is dead after a semitrailer rear-ended a pickup truck. Sheriff Rick Eberhardt says the crash happened yesterday afternoon on Nebraska Highway 13 near Pierce. Eberhardt says the pickup was attempting to turn when it was hit from behind by a semitrailer hauling more than 8,000 gallons of diesel fuel.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - The United Way of the Midlands says CEO Karen Bricklemyer has died after developing a serious heart problem last week. The 47-year-old Bricklmyer died on Monday after suffering an aortic dissection on July 22nd. Her funeral will be tomorrow afternoon at Countryside Community Church in Omaha.
