New tourist attraction offers Black Hills visitors a thrill

If you're an adrenaline junky, the newest attraction in the Black Hills is for you!

A ribbon cutting Thursday officially opened the Soaring Eagle Zipline at Rushmore Cave. It lets you experience the sensation of flying while carefully strapped in to a seat.

Nort Johnson, president of the Black Hills Badlands and Lakes Association took the honorary first ride. The zipline accelerates you 700 feet down the mountainside on a suspended cable then pulls you back up the hill to the starting point.

Johnson gives the ride high marks on the thrill scale. "I'm thinkin' nine or nine and a half. This is a pretty good rush and I'm old so I'm thinkin' maybe, it's very family friendly, so for the youngsters I'm thinkin' probably going to be a 10 all the way."

The only requirement is height. You have to be 42 inches tall.
