Pennywise: Heat Distributor for Jam/Jelly making

 Paula Vogelgesang
To keep jam or jelly from sticking to the bottom of your kettle, try making a heat diffuser from an old pie pan and some canning salt.
Just put at least an inch of canning salt in the bottom of the pie tin, set your jelly kettle on top of the salt and proceed with the recipe.
The salt spreads the yeast out so there is less chance of sticking and scorching all that expensive fruit and sugar!
