Don't bogart that vote! Medical marijuana on South Dakota ballot

Posted:

Supporters of medical marijuana hope the number 13 is lucky this year.  That's because the South Dakota secretary of State says there are enough valid petition signatures to put Measure 13 on the November ballot.

The measure would allow people with special medical cards to possess up to one ounce of marijuana.  These people would have to be diagnosed with or undergoing treatment for certain diseases.  These include some cancers, glaucoma, amyotrphic lateral sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, seizures or multiple sclerosis.

Voters in 2006 rejected a similar measure, 52 percent against it and 48 percent voting for it.
