A Rapid City man, who tried to slash his boyfriend's throat, faces up to 15 years in prison when he's sentenced in Oct.
Joseph Red Star, 39, entered a guilty plea Thursday afternoon in Pennington County court.
As part of a plea deal, the state charged Red Star with an alternate count of aggravated assault instead of attempted first degree murder.
In June, Red Star, who was highly intoxicated according to the transcripts, got into a fight with his boyfriend outside of the Loaf and Jug on Mount Rushmore Road. He slashed the victims throat with a knife and said, "you're going to die tonight."
