RAPID CITY, S.D. -

Bond will not be reduced for a young man accused of killing another man near a Rapid City ice cream shop.

Michael Hand, 18, is accused in the second degree murder of Myron Rock, 47. Rock's body was found near the Cold Stone Creamery on July 6.

On Monday Hand's attorney asked Seventh Circuit Judge Janine Kern to lower Hand's bond from $500,000 to $25,000. Hand's Lawyer said Hand would stay with his aunt on the Pine Ridge Reservation if able to pay.

Prosecutors objected, calling the bond inappropriate due to the serious nature of the alleged crime. Judge Kern sided with state.

If convicted, Hand faces life in prison.
