SCOTTSBLUFF. Neb. -

Labor Day is just a few days away and law enforcement wants to remind travelers to be cautious.

Nebraska State Patrol has responded to many car accidents this year that have resulted in death.

NSP Lieutenant Jamey Balthazar says that many of these deaths were due to seat belts not being used.

Balthazar says that with Labor Day weekend being busier, travelers need to buckle up and secure a designated driver.

"School's already started so people typically don't travel quite as far for labor day weekend as they do for some of the other holiday weekends during the summer, but the roadways will be a little bit busier than normal," says Balthazar. "We do have some extra enforcement going on. NOHS has a you drink, you drive, you lose campaign going on right now that we're actively participating in."

Balthazar says that there will also be sobriety checkpoints throughout the weekend.
