GERING, Neb.- Kites of different shapes, sizes, and colors will be gliding over Gering this Labor Day weekend.

The sceond annual Bluffs Breeze Kite Festival took flight at the Five Rocks Amphitheater Saturday morning.

People young and old came out to put their kites in the air, or watch others soar through the sky.

Gering resident Bruce Yost says his passion for kite flying began when he was just a boy.

"I like the wind, I like being able to play with the wind so to speak. I guess I got started when I was about 12 years old. My dad was a scout leader and he says ‘Okay, we’re going to make a kite, out of newspaper!’ We put some sticks together and string and glued it together and took it up on a hill out back in Ansley, Nebraska."

The free event will continue on Monday morning.
